Nicki Minaj's last album did better than most of her peers in the hip-hop community, but it was not a hip-hop album. The Roman Reloaded album was definitely a pop album and did not go platinum. It also received some criticism among the rap world. Nicki's debut album Pink Friday, was a great blend of hip-hop, R&B, and pop. And, since her breakthrough into mainstream five years ago, Nick's been dropping some of the illest verses in the game. Just the fact that she was able to hold her own with Jay Z and Kanye on the Monster track, shows that she's an upper echelon MC. Now, the Young Money queen is getting back to the lyrics on her new album, and in a recent interview with DJ Drama, Nicki claims her next album, The Pinkprint, will be a classic. “What’s next is just a classic album. That’s all I can think about right now,” says Nicki. “When it’s all said and done, none of [Fashion Week events] matters to me more than creating a classic album right now.” She definitely has the potential to create a classic album and with a core fan base as large as hers, it would not only be a commercial success, it would propel her back into her platinum status.
