Drake Responds To Kendrick Lamar's "Control" Verse

Yesterday, Future released his track off of DJ Esco's new mixtape titled No Sleep. The newly released song is called Sh!t, and it features rappers Drake and Juicy J. Drake chose these latest sixteen bars to respond to Kendrick Lamar's three minute murder of the the Control beat. Although, Drizzy only throws a two bar subliminal, "If a n*gga say my name he the hot sh*t/but if I say that nig*a name he still the hot sh*t", K.Dot is the only who "hot sh*t" to say his name. Drake has been very adamant about his disdain for Kendrick's choice of words on Control. He has even went as far to state that he has no interest in working with the TDE MC in the future. This isn't the first time he's thrown a subliminal at K.Dot. On The Language, off of Drake's most recent album Noting Was The Same, Drake took some shots that most believe to be directed towards Kendrick "I don't know why they been lyin'," Drake rhymes on the selection featured on Nothing was the Same. "But your shit is not that inspirin' / Bank account statements just look like I'm ready for early retirement / Fuck any nigga that's talkin' that shit just to get a reaction / Fuck going platinum / I looked at my wrist and it's already platinum / I am the kid with the motor mouth / I am the one you should worry about / I don't know who you're referring to, who is this nigga you heard about? / Someone just talking that bullshit, man someone just gave you the run-around / Niggas downplaying the money, but that's what you do when the money down." Kendrick chose the BET HipHop Awards Cypher to respond and that must have been what moved Drake to respond to the response. We'll see how long these two go back and forth, but either way its good for hip hop. Besides J. Cole, Drake is the only MC, who is not a legend, that has the ability to go toe to toe with Kendrick lyrically. And from the looks of it J. Cole and Kendrick seem to be just having a bit of friendly competition. However Drizzy and K.Dot looks like it has the potential to turn into a full of beef. This is what hip hop is all about. It makes for better music. Not to mention, the fact that we don't have to worry about the feud turning violent, because Kendrick and Drake are the furthest things from gangster you can find in hip hop. TDE's CEO's Punch and Top Dawg both took to twitter after the songs release, and both commented on the matter. Although, they both  seem unimpressed with the verse. All we need now is one more name drop from either party and it's official.

The song is featured on DJ Esco’s No Sleep mixtape.
