Rick Ross’ “Mastermind” Is The # 1 Album In The Country

Rick Ross’ Mastermind is officially the number one album in the country. Ross’ new album has sold 184,726 copies in its first week. With Mastermind‘s accomplishment, it makes Ross the holder of  the most solo rap albums to reach #1 since his debut in August of 2006. While this is his fifth #1 album, it is his second lowest first week sales, barely edging out 2010′s Teflon Don (his only album to not reach #1). Although, he comes in on top of Billboards 200, Ross delivers another sub-par album, in terms of real hip-hop. Ross (who has an estimated net worth of 28 million dollars) had a chance to use his great voice and unique style to deliver a real hip-hop album about his great business intellect, and real life situations; instead he came with the same "drug kingpin" facade. Besides "The Devil Is A Lie", which is the best track on the album thanks to Jay Z, no other song really stands out. Even the hyped up Biggie remake "Nobody" is uneventful, except for Diddy's monologue. When his J.Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Drake and even Lil Wayne remake a classic, they do it justice, and to top it all off he got French Montana to rap on the song (one of the worst rappers in the game). B.I.G. only collaborated with the best (Method Man, Jay Z, The L.O.X., Bone Thugs, DMC, and Tupac). Rapping about 100 kilo drug deals and 92 million dollar in your bank account does not appeal to the hip-hop heads. In fact, it only appeals to the 200 thousand plus, misinformed fans that will eventually buy his album; meaning this will be yet another gold album for the man who loves to look at the score board. The only reason he is on top of the charts is because there is literally no other music out there besides Oxymoron. Here is Ricky's latest interview on The Breakfast Club.
