Nasir Jones & Michael Eric Dyson Teach The World

We can write book on the subject matter and the insight given by two of the greatest philosophers in the modern day era. Just a few days ago God Son Nas and Doctor Michael Eric Dyson sat down with James Peterson and an audience at Goregetown University, and the result was brilliant. The only way to describe the forum is, knowledge. They touch on the cultural relevancy of hip-hop and its need to be taken seriously in as subject of education. Hip-hop artists are the modern day Poe's, Shakespeare's, and Homer's. Hip-hop has the most substance and definitely the most words, out of any other genre of music today. Nas and Doctor Dyson, elaborate on on the prison industrial complex that is forced on to our young people today. While young people of color and low income households need more outlets to express themselves, other than rapping or being a professional athlete; there needs to be more opportunities mad for us once we acquire the skills needed to thrive in society. There is plenty of work out there, but there are not plenty of jobs. Nas talks about how a lot of artists today, that are afraid to to talk about the social issues facing our world today, and brother Dyson so eloquently adds, that as an audience "we get what we deserve." There definitely a imbecilic agenda in the music that the media shoves down the throats on a daily bases, it is up to us as an informed audience to reject the trash that's given to us. There are literally so many gems given my these great men, that to elaborate any further would on be a feeble attempt to take their shine. So, just make sure you watch this conversation in it entirety. To do anything else would be a travesty.
P.S. We have a new music video from Plies, new single from Bow Wow, Wiz Kalifa, Cam'ron, and we have Nas' entire discography. Also be sure to check out our latest TrueMusic Girl Next Door.
