Saul Williams: "The Powers Of Being Will Always Prevail Over The Powers That Be"

Saul Williams has been on a media blitzkrieg ever since they announced the first hip-hop musical to make it to Broadway "Holler If Ya Hear Me" (inspired by the music of Tupac Shakur), was in production. Doing everything from internet, to radio, and even making it to TV on Stephen Colbert's The Colbert Report; Saul has done an amazing job of raising awareness of the project and explaining its significance in history. Sadly, the production only lasted six weeks on Broadway, "Holler If Ya Hear Me" will still be gracing people's presence with a worldwide tour. However, Saul's most recent interview on Power 105's The Breakfast Club was far more than just promo for the play, it was a public service to our community and to the world. Besides painting a picture of the story of an ex-convict turned social activist, with the back drop of the rhymes of Tupac; Saul breaks down the dynamics of our culture, what's wrong with it, whats right, and gives insight as to how we can fix it. Really focusing on the artist's responsibility to create a piece with substance, rather than making material for money. Money over everything has become one of the most popular and disgusting sayings in our culture. Our society has been poisoned with a materialistic ideology, largely due to music that is made, as well as the music that is chosen to be played. As Saul so eloquently put, "The powers of being, will always prevail over the powers that be."  To sit here and analyze every drop of knowledge the great Saul Williams spit, would have you guys sitting here reading all day, when you can just watch the interview for yourself.
