Macklemore Feels The Pressure Of Sophomore Album

Whether you agree or not, Macklemore was dubbed the best ling since sliced bread at the Grammys this year. And, with all the new found fame, Macklemore is feeling the pressure of living up to his and Ryan Lewis' debut album The Heist. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone Macklemore sat down to talk about the difficulty moving forward with new music, and feeling at odds with listeners. "It's definitely challenging when the world misunderstands what your intention is, but i wouldn't trade anything that happened. It gives you another layer, a callus that forces you to go internally and figure out some of your writing that you might not have been forced to do had you not been in that situation." With plans to fully return to the studio in September, Macklemore added, "We're definitely working on the next album. Ryan's got a lot of beats. I got a lot of writing. Obviously there's a ton of pressure, it's a sophomore album, and we never thought The Heist would be as big as it was. Now we have to live up to that." Macklemore has received a lot slack from his peers as well as the hip-hop-heads, for his quick rise to fame. Now, Professor Macklemore is not the ill-est lyricist and is by no means a hip-hop legend, but the fact is the man can rap. As for his so called quick rise to fame, Macklemore has been making music for the last fourteen years. He even dropped an album back in 05'. Since teaming up with Ryan Lewis the following year, the duo have been on a steady grind. Although, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis have a sound that is somewhat poppy and very mainstream, it's still hip-hop. And, the either way you look at it, they have opened up hip-hop to a much broader market.
