Kendrick Lamar’s Next Album May Be Coming Later Than Expected

Earlier this year, TDE head Anthony "Top Dawg" Tiffith suggested that his team would be releasing six projects in 2014, one from every artist. Isaiah Rashad released the Cilvia Demo in January, Schoolboy Q dropped Oxymoron in February, SZA dropped in April, and Ab-Soul's release date is set for June 24th. Now, there has been no word on any project from Jay Rock, but Top Dawg has stated that Kendrick Lamar will be releasing his follow up to his critically acclaimed "good kid, m.A.A.d city" in September. Kendrick himself even went on record back in March, stating that the new LP will be out sometime this fall. However, speaking backstage at KMEL's Summer Jam event, K. Dot hits at a possible push-back. "It's in the process. We cooking," said the California native about his forthcoming album. When asked about how close he was to releasing the effort, Kendrick was not at the point to give a definite time frame. "I couldn't say. I couldn't give a false pretense on where I'm at. I can't even give a date or a time, but it's going to be an event." Although, Kendrick stayed pretty relevant in 2013, mostly due to touring and features; the TDE MC has been fairly quite through the first half of 2014. Let's just hope he gives the fans the long awaited album before the end of the year.
