Its been two years of of sporadic features and occasionally gracing us with a new track every now and then, but Ab-Soul is finally back on the scene in full effect. Soul Brother Number Two has been very vocal about a lot of topics, most notably his frustrations with Top Dawg Entertainment. In a recent interview with Life+Times, the Black Hippy member speaks out about the album delays, meaning behind the title "These Days," and more. Ab-Soul says he recorded the majority of his third LP at Mac Millers's studio, and that the album has completed back in December. Soul credits the delay of the album to Top Dawg Entertainment's album release schedule: "I turned the album in at the beginning of the year and Schoolboy Q had just gotten a release date for his album, so we had decided to push my album back in order to let Q's project breathe and to also let Isaiah Rashad run, let SZA run and to keep building the anticipation for my album." From Soul voicing his displeasure's with the groups 2013 XXL cover, to the delays in his album, and even threatening to release his album; a lot of talk has been made about his relationship with TDE, or lack there of. Although, they seemed to have hashed things out, Ab-Soul is thee only member to not be featured on any of the projects that TDE has release in the last two years (good kid, m.A.A.d. city, Oxymoron, Cilvia, and Z). However, Soul insinuates that the rumors of his dissatisfaction with the group is not totally wrong: "Everybody doesn't speak English. The world is a big place, man. I can only be me. I can't really expect everybody to be on board with me. They don't even know me for real. With that said, I enjoy it. I like to hear what someone from the outside who's looking in would say, because a lot of the time they are right." When asked about the album title and meaning, Soul had this to say: "Originally, I didn't want a super conceptual title. I didn't want to freak anybody out. A lot of people do like that concept-driven perspective and that's cool, but I just wanted to be like a time capsule to represent where I've been between my last project and this one." Whether there is still turmoil in the camp or not, Ab-Soul has finally been given a release date. The album is set to be released June 24th.
